Access Heating and Air

Boise, ID USA

Luke, a service tech from Access Heating and Air, uses his Nissan NV200 for HVAC service and repair in Boise, ID.

Many companies make van and tool trailer tours for other tradespeople. However, this tour is made for customers:

  • Access Heating and Air will leave your house clean.
  • They're prepared with inventory.
  • You get to meet Luke, the tech who may even do your service.

This tour helps remove some of the uncertainty that customers experience when calling for HVAC service or repair.

"One Call and That's All"

Access has a mission statement of "One call and that's all".

This benefits both them and the customer.

For the customer, this is a signal that a repair or service won't be a major disruption to their life.

For the business, parts runs to the shop or a supply house cost them money. Every parts run requires time that isn't spent completing another job. This means they need vans to be well-stocked.

Used, but Neat

One thing that sticks out about this van is that the van isn't pristinely clean. There is some dirt on the floor. The tools, inventory, and hoses look like they were just coiled after a job.

But overall, the van is neat and clean. It isn' overflowing with trash or tools or cardboard boxes. The cab of the van is well-kept and clean.

Luke points out that keeping the job site clean is a priority and that they have a vacuum on the back for easy access.

Get More In

This van has dual side cargo doors, which makes it easier to access things in the van without climbing in. This is a great technique for smaller vans that are cramped and hard to crouch or kneel in.

To fit more inventory in the van, the driver side cargo door is blocked with storage. This allows quick access to filters and several outward-facing drawers.

The other side of the van has a tank rack with four tanks.

Mobile Office Machine

Luke doesn't carry paper on his van. Invoicing, financing, and payments are all done on an iPad.

There are many options now for handling paperwork. Some tradespeople still invoice with written invoices. Some carry a printer powered by an inverter that can generate printed paper invoices quickly. And some, like Access, have gone electronic.

Properly set up apps and tablets reduce the amount of time you spend handwriting paperwork and keeping your books by integrating with accounting software like Quickbooks.

The time savings might not be significant for some businesses, but this is the kind of thing that can help enable one more job per day.
