ORGANIZATION
McConnell's F350 is built for speed and comfort!
He's a journeyman that works primarily on industrial applications, such as oil, gas, solar, and lumber mills.

A Pickup?!?
Many work trucks are setup exclusively for work, but he wanted a truck that would be great for working or daily driving. To achieve that, he's tuned the Powerstroke diesel so that it puts out around 600 HP and put some big meats on it.
In his work, he often needs to drive down muddy dirt roads and pull heavy trailers, so a non-4x4 van wouldn't work for him.
Although he's an employee, he contracts his truck out through his own company in Canada.
The Magic in the Bed
McConnell built a pretty cool tool box that he's been using for about two years:
The DIY bed-mounted 3/4" plywood toolbox is where many tools and supplies go. He's got some large tools and small parts in organizers that are easy to grab once a drawer is pulled out.
There are three 5' long drawers, with the side drawers built to fit around the wheelwell.
This adds to construction time, but is a great way to use up the full width of the space in the rear. Most drawer builds are as wide as the inside of the wheelwells.
Each drawer front has an easy access compartment once the tailgate is dropped that makes it easy to grab frequently used items.
His Veto Pro Pac tool bag and Milwaukee Packouts fit on the bed floor right in the front of the bed.

Large Material Handling
He loads lots of large heavy materials like cable reels. He dealt with this by:
- Making the tool box span the width of the bed, reducing the number of holes something could fall into.
- Bedlining the tool box. The treated plywood was bedlined inside and outside to make it more durable and weather resistant.
Theft?
He closes off the bed by flipping down his tonneau cover and locking the tailgate.
This might not sound secure, but, as they say, out of sight, out of mind. He hasn't had problems with theft in this truck in the time he's had it, so covering things up is working for him.
Other Stuff:
He's got ladders, but he only hauls them out when he knows he'll need them.
